How did Ombre Hair Colouring Technique become Popular?
It is believed that pop star, Britney Spears, made it popular in the early 2000. When she tinted her hair dark at the roots and finished light at the tip of the hair.
The style has since then been adopted by a host of other celebrities like Kourtney Kardashian, Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and even actors like Jared Leto is known for applying the ombre technique to his hair. The Ombre technique is however, not exclusive to hair industry.
Lately, the technique has been adopted by other beauty facets like the nail arts and makeups and even the every day to day person can now do it.
How to Ombre your Hair
You can do it yourself or have a hairdresser do it for you. The Ombre technique as said earlier basically involves tinting your hair dark and light. How you do it might be different because the technique has two types of application. The traditional Ombre and the Reverse Ombre. The traditional Hombre involves tinting you hair from dark at the roots of the hair to light at the middle all the way to the tip of the hair while the reverse ombre hair is the literally the opposite as the process involves tinting the hair from light to dark. So in the case of the reverse ombre technique. The hair is tinted lighter at the root and darker at the middle and tip of the hair.
So after choosing your desired ombre effect i.e. the traditional Ombre or the reverse Ombre. The next thing to do is decide the point where you want the ombre effect to start and end. Doing this, you have to be careful, so one colour does not overlap. It is also very important for you to remove tangles from your hair and make it as straight and smooth as possible.
Once you divide your hair into two sections preferably from the middle and divide those two sections, so your hair is divided into quarters. Then you bleach the hair for about 10-45 mins. Then wash out the bleach and let it dry before you prepare. Add your preferred colour for the ombre hair effect. You allow the dye stay in your hair for a while before washing it off till it has the desired level of lightness you want in your hair. Thereafter rinse your hair with water and shampoo and if you want add some conditioner. Then let the hair air-dry and rock it in any style you want.
How long does it last?
One of the cool things about the Ombre technique is that the cost of maintaining an ombre hairdo is low and you can have an ombre hair for as long as 6-9 months. To maintain your ombre hairstyle, make sure to wash your hair 2-3 times a week because washing your daily. This can strip the hair of its natural oils. Also try to keep it moisturised especially the tips of your hair. This is because your hair tips are susceptible to being dry and brittle. And lastly avoid heating tools like flat irons and straighteners as they tend to have a bad effect on your ombre hair making them look dull and unhealthy if you use them regularly.
