Pre Bonded Hair Extensions
Pre Bonded Hair Extensions: It is a type of hair extension that’s applied to the hair by heating up keratin tips that are found at the end of the extension, and its put together using a glue bond, keratin or polyurethane to our natural hair. The term Pre-bonded actually refers to each strand that’s been created individually, rather than being sold as loose hair. The terms U-tip/nail tip/pre bonded/hot fusion/cold fusion hair extension are often used to describe the same Pre-bonded hair extensions.
It can be quite confusing but it is simply a way of describing the shape of the keratin at the end of each strand. Using keratin as a form of hair extension applicator has been around for many years, and is a very well-known method of fitting. As keratin based hair extensions are one of the earliest methods of hair extension application, it was the first to have a redesign and rather than being sold as loose hair with a glue gun, it has a pre-bonded tip.
Volume applications uses 100–150 strands whereas length may require as many as 300 strands. The number of strands required will depend on the amount and length of the wearer’s natural hair, their desired look, and length. The bonds are attached close to the root allowing a little space for movement. Small sections of natural hair is placed between the U-tips. The melted keratin is then rolled around the natural hair tightly to form a fully sealed bond. Keratin heats and cools very quickly, which allows easy application. Hair extension should be placed far enough from our natural hairline, this allows the binds to be covered with our natural hair. This in turn allows us to tie our hair back as we normally would without the fear of the bonds being visible.

The bond will need to be broken down depending on the type of keratin used so that it can safely be removed from the clients’ hair. If we use an Italian keratin, we’ll require an alcohol based solution, and if we use a Chinese keratin we’ll require an acetone based solution. Pre-bonded hair extensions are very comfortable to wear. However, a settling period required, which is usually the first few days, this is when our scalp adjusts to the hair extensions. If the extensions fitted by a trained professional, the bonds are almost invisible.
The advantages of this hair extension method is that it’ll add to the length and volume of our natural hair and it can be customised to match clients’ hair colour. In addition to that, it has no maintenance cost like other hair extension methods.
The disadvantages include: Unlike other hair extension methods, this requires heat to melt the bonds and fuse it to our hair. The removal often needs acetone or alcohol to break the bonds. Thus, the use of chemical and heat while applying and removing can be harsh on our natural hair. Also, these extension cannot be used more than once. Heat should be used very gently around the bonds because or else the heat will melt the bonds and cause them to slip or even fall out.
Micro Ring Hair Extensions

Perfect if we’re looking for a more long-term solution to lengthen our hair. These top quality hair extensions can be styled in any way we want, be it curly or straight! They are quick and easy to apply. Micro loop extensions are applied strand by strand to our hair around 1 cm away from the scalp. Aluminium rings with tiny silicone rings hold the extensions securely in place, without the need for any harsh glues or chemicals. These last 3-4 months before they require any maintenance, and can be applied to hair as short as 4 inches.
The advantages are: They are attached to the natural hair strands with a Nano-sized bead which is barely visible & provides a seamless finish. Micro ring hair extensions provides re-usability. The tip of these extensions does not get spoilt during removal and therefore can be reinstalled easily. The bead is made from silicon which does not have any harmful effect on the scalp so there are no allergy concerns with micro ring extensions. Also, no heat is used while installing or removing the extensions. These are very secure, reliable & durable. They can last for a very long period of time if proper care is taken. They come in a surplus of lengths, colours & textures so offers plenty of option to choose from.
However, there are certain disadvantages, including: They require appropriate aftercare or else they’d lose their moisture content. Also it can take quite some time to get used to them.
Nano hair extensions have proved to be the most common and quickest of the ring application methods. It is an incredible hair extension method, especially for those with finer hair. Plus it is more comfortable. A Nano hair extension strand can be applied in seconds!
The process involves placing individual strands of the extension and firming them with a Nano ring. Nano rings hair extensions is extremely secure thanks to a strand by strand application method. The trick to securing the rings properly, is to gather the correct amount of natural hair and place it within the ring. These types of extensions use an aluminium wire and a Nano ring, which is the smallest ring available. These are lined with silicone and finished in matching hair colours to gently grip our hair extensions into place. Therefore, there is no glue, heat or braiding used. The application provides the effect of thick, healthy and voluminous hair.
Nano ring hair extension bonds are incredibly tiny. They are also available in a variety of colours, making it easier to match them to the root colour. Nano ring hair extensions are the least damaging. They will not require any heat or glue to secure them, which means they will be kind and gentle on the hair. It can be easily removed. Nano ring extensions can last between 3-4 months, with regular maintenance appointments. They require more maintenance appointments almost every three-four weeks.

Tape-in Hair Extensions
The tape-in extensions are very lightweight and therefore it requires no glue, tools or fusion type of bonds to stay in our hair.
These are the least-expensive, semi-permanent hair extension method known for both cost and the application. Because tape-in extensions take less than an hour for application making the overall application and maintenance cost much lower than any other semi-permanent method. They are easier to make than the separate extensions.
Maintenance
Low Maintenance
Maintenance of this extension is the easiest. Tape extensions will not shed, mat or tangle and are reusable. With good quality tape-ins, maintenance will be super easy and hassle-free. We can wear them for about 10-12 weeks.
Least Damaging
Tape-in hair extensions methods are the least damaging. They are very lightweight and do not tug or pull on our hair. They are also very easy to remove. With tape-in hair extensions, we wouldn’t lose any hair or experience any discomfort.
Reusable
Tape in extensions are reusable for up to 12 months, they are good for up to 3-4 applications. It is a massive benefit, for those who have had their extensions customised with a cut or colour.
Invisible and Flexible
That can be worn as several types of hairstyle: braids, super high ponytails etc. They are really thin and invisible! They are flexible in our hair too.
Tips to care for Tape-in Hair Extensions
Whilst the tape-in extensions are on, a sulfate-free shampoo should be used and we should also refrain from applying conditioner to the hair roots since the oil in it will loosen the tape. If we do exercise while wearing them, we should apply dry shampoo beforehand to help soak up any moisture and prevent sweat from loosening the tape.
How to Care for Extensions
It is recommended to not wash the hair for 48 hours after installing the extensions. We should brush dry the hair out completely with an extension brush before shower and bedtime which prevents extension matting and tangling. We should wash it every 2 days or less. As well as use good quality hair shampoo and conditioner. Hair should be tied in a braid or a high ponytail to prevent tangling and matting at the root area at bedtime. We must wear a swimming cap to avoid salt and chlorine water while swimming. Also, to avoid matting, we should ensure that the hair and bonds are dry before bedtime.
